Captain Butch Green was born in Pensacola, FL, to a strong fishing oriented family. He moved to Islamorada in the Florida Keys when he was a boy. He has been fishing the waters of the Florida Keys for about 32 years now. He learned the ropes fishing with his Dad, Captain Ray Green, rigging bait and steering the boat (single crew) when he was just 12 years old.

Over the years Capt. Butch has been both Captain and Mate on various boats locally also fishing tournaments in the Bahamas and Cozumel.

Currently Captain Butch is fishing a beautifully restored and 34’ Hatteras which he purchased in 1994, and appropriately titled it “Sassy Lady.”  Assisting Captain Butch and friends, is first mate (Jimmy Fickling) who has several years of experience fishing the Keys as well.Butch and his mate use world-class tackle and equipment including: Spinning tackle, Bait casting tackle, and conventional tackle.   A number of techniques are used including sight casting to large game fish like sailfish or dolphin with spin tackle or trolling for a variety of species with 20 and 30+ pound tackle or deep dropping near wrecks and bottom fishing the reefs.
